Stephen Curry did not shy away in his first game opposing his former “Splash Brother,” Klay Thompson. Admitting it felt odd to face Thompson, Curry delivered an outstanding performance, scoring a game-high 37 points. His pivotal three-pointer with 27.5 seconds remaining granted the Warriors a decisive four-point edge, aiding in their 120-117 victory.

This performance also allowed Curry to achieve a personal milestone, as noted by StatMamba; he has become the oldest point guard in NBA history to achieve back-to-back 30-point games. In addition to his 37 points, Curry recorded six rebounds and nine assists during his 35 minutes on the court.

Jonathan Kuminga added 16 points and five rebounds, becoming the Warriors’ second-leading scorer for the night. De’Anthony Melton and Buddy Hield contributed 14 points each, while Draymond Green rounded out his performance with 11 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Andrew Wiggins closed the scoring for the Warriors with eight points.

This game held significant emotional weight for Thompson, as it was his first opportunity to play against the Warriors in a Mavericks jersey. Thompson rose to the occasion, scoring 22 points on 7-17 shooting, including 6-12 from three-point range.

In addition to his scoring, Thompson recorded four rebounds and three assists. There was a touching moment at Chase Center when both Curry and Thompson exchanged knowing smiles and head shakes after each made a three-pointer.

Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 31 points, eight rebounds, and six assists during his 41 minutes on the court, with Kyrie Irving adding 21 points. Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively II also contributed 15 and 12 points, respectively, in the loss. The Warriors will host the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday, while the Mavericks will aim for a rebound against the Utah Jazz on Thursday.
